Sustainability & Ethical Sourcing

Slow Fashion. Real Craft. Honest Trade.

At ITQĀSH, sustainability is not a marketing position. It is the natural consequence of how we work.

Slow Production

A single Kani shawl takes three to eighteen months to complete. There is no faster way. This is not a limitation — it is the point. Each piece is made to be worn for decades, not seasons.

Ethical Sourcing

Our pashmina fibre comes exclusively from Changthangi goats raised by nomadic herders on the Changthang plateau of Ladakh. The goats are never harmed. The fibre is combed — not sheared — during the natural moulting season.

Direct from the Maker

ITQĀSH works directly with master weavers and embroiderers in the Kashmir Valley, cutting out every middleman. This ensures fair wages reach the artisans whose skill is irreplaceable and whose families have practised this art for generations.

Zero Waste Philosophy

Every remnant of fabric from our workshop is repurposed — into smaller accessories, cleaning cloths, or returned to local textile communities. We do not produce surplus inventory. Every piece is made to order or in very limited runs.

Packaging

Our packaging is 100% plastic-free. Each piece arrives in an unbleached cotton dust bag, wrapped in acid-free tissue, and presented in a recycled board box printed with soy-based inks.
